The Kansanga Parish Choir proudly represented Uganda at the Annual International Hymn Festival (IHF) 2024, held in Lira, Northern Uganda. This prestigious musical event brought together 47 choirs from across East Africa, each showcasing talent and devotion to sacred music. The Kansanga Parish Choir earned a commendable 13th place overall, reflecting their hard work and dedication.
Several choir members distinguished themselves in individual categories. Kakuru Andrew captivated audiences and judges alike, securing 2nd place in the tenor solo category. Otangwa Priscilla’s powerful alto performance also earned her 2nd place, while Allan Baluukake’s bass solo and Nalwanga Rachael’s soprano solo both earned 4th place finishes, showcasing their individual prowess.
The choir’s ensemble pieces were equally celebrated. The trio “Bless This House,” performed by Flavour, Suzan, and Sarah, received high acclaim, achieving 2nd place. Additionally, the choir earned 2nd place in the Set Piece anthem category with their moving rendition of “How Lovely Are the Messengers,” a testament to their unity, musicality, and preparation.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Choir Director Mrs. Kiganda Christine, whose guidance and dedication shaped the choir’s success. Special appreciation is also extended to Rev. Kyobe Alex for training and leading the choir into the festival, Mr. Emmanuel Bwiire, and the entire Kansanga Christian community, whose encouragement and support enabled the choir’s participation. The organist, whose skilled accompaniment enriched each performance, also deserves special recognition for their contribution to the choir’s achievements.
