The ordination service held on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at St. Paul’s Cathedral Namirembe was a remarkable and spiritually uplifting occasion. Presided over by the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese,Rt. Rev. Moses Bbanja, the ceremony drew clergy, lay leaders, family members, and congregants from across the diocese, all gathered to witness and celebrate this significant milestone in the life of the Church.
This holy and solemn event saw the ordination of several candidates into the sacred orders of deacon and priesthood. Each Church Minister was commended for their unwavering commitment to ministry, their theological training, and their dedication to serving God and His people. The candidates underwent rigorous preparation, including theological education, pastoral training, and spiritual formation, to ensure they were ready for the weighty responsibilities of ordained ministry.
The service began with a majestic procession of clergy, accompanied by the uplifting sounds of the cathedral choir. The Provohost of All Saints Cathedral – Nakasero, Rev. Can. Dr. Rebecca Nyegenye delivered an inspiring sermon, emphasizing the call to service, humility, and the transformative power of Christ in the lives of those ordained. Her message encouraged the newly ordained to remain steadfast in their faith and to lead their congregations with love and integrity.
Highlights of the service included the laying on of hands, a deeply symbolic act signifying the conferment of spiritual authority and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit upon the ordinands. The congregation joined in prayer, affirming their support and commitment to the new deacons and priests.
The newly ordained were reminded of their roles as servants of the Word, sacraments, and community. As deacons, they are called to assist in pastoral care and outreach, while priests are entrusted with the additional responsibilities of leading worship, administering sacraments, and shepherding the faithful.
The occasion was made even more special by the presence of family, friends, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate and support the ordinands. The event concluded with joyful hymns and a fellowship gathering, where attendees congratulated the ordinands and shared in the joy of their new calling.
This ordination service was a testament to the vibrancy of the Church and the faithfulness of God in raising up leaders to serve in His vineyard. It serves as a reminder of the Church’s mission to equip and send out laborers for the harvest, ensuring that the gospel continues to reach the ends of the earth.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the newly ordained i.e Mubuulizi Winnie Birungi Makumbi, Mubuulizi Bwiire Emmanuel and Rev. Solomon Matovu and pray for God’s blessings upon their ministries as they step into this sacred calling. May they serve faithfully and bear much fruit for the glory of God.
