Waswa Simon Peter Lubega, born on September 28, 2000, is a multifaceted individual with a passion for music, technology, and teaching. He currently plays a pivotal role in the Kansanga Choir, where he trains, conducts, plays the organ, and coordinates choir activities. Specializing in classical music, Waswa’s musical journey began at the age of 10, and he is currently learning the organ at Grade 5 level.
A significant influence in his musical path has been Mrs. Norah Nawanku Ssegawa, who introduced him to classical music. Waswa is deeply grateful for her guidance in shaping his career. Special thanks also go to Ms. Nakalanda Patricia, his first piano teacher, who introduced him to the instrument, and to Mr. Francis Mutesasira, the Choir Director of the Cathedral Choir, who taught him music at both O and A Levels. Music was one of Waswa’s chosen subjects, and Mr. Mutesasira played a critical role in his development.
In addition to music, Rev. Alex Kyobe had a lasting impact on Waswa’s academic journey, particularly in math and physics during his time at Mengo Senior School.
Waswa has played the piano and organ in several churches, starting at St. Luke’s Church Kibuye (2015-2017), followed by Kibiri Church of Uganda (2017-2020), and currently serves at Kansanga Church of Uganda since 2022.
Academically, Waswa is a graduate of Makerere University, where he earned a First-Class Degree with a CGPA of 4.76 in the Bachelor of Business Computing program. His expertise extends beyond music into the fields of Information Technology, Software Development, and Web Development. Currently, he works with Focus Uganda as an IT & Communications Personnel (System Administrator).
Waswa’s love for music, soccer, video games, and teaching reflects his commitment to transferring knowledge and helping others succeed, particularly in learning musical instruments. He proclaimed salvation in 2009 during the Decade of Mission at Mengo Primary School, a pivotal moment in his spiritual journey.
Waswa is a son to Rev. James and Mrs. Justine Lubega, and his dedication to both music and technology continues to make an impact in his church and professional community.
